According to a study by The Sunday Times Rich List, only five multimillionaires accounted for £15m of the £24.1m received in donations and loans for Brexit campaign groups.

The biggest donor to the leave campaign was controversial businessman Arron Banks, one of UKIP’s largest patrons who has since been “suspended” from the organisation.

Jeremy Hosking, an investment manager and owner of Crystal Palace, funded Brexit to the tune of £1.69m, while banker Peter Hargreaves, Lord Robert Edmiston and hedge fund manager, Crispin Odey, brought up the rear.
